Atalanta previously played and lost to Real Madrid recently in the season opener, but Ademola Lookman believes her team has since “grown together” and “become stronger”.

La Dea met Carlo Ancelotti’s side last August in the European Super Cup, with the Spanish giants winning 2-0, but the Nerazzurri had yet to bring in the final signings of the summer and then needed time to integrate new players.

Gasperini’s side also lost three of their opening five Serie A matches between August and September before embarking on a nine-game winning streak, which ultimately saw them take first place last weekend by edging out Naples.

That’s why Lookman insisted Tuesday night’s Champions League match against Los Blancos will be “another opportunity to prove” how different Atalanta are from a few months ago.

Lookman: Atalanta ‘can’t wait’ to prove they are ‘stronger’ against Real Madrid

“We lost the last game we played against them in August, in the Super Cup, but since then we have grown together as a team,” the former Leicester striker told Sky Sport Italia, as quoted by TMW.

“Now we are a different group, become stronger. We’ve shown it consistently, and tomorrow will be another opportunity to prove it, and I can’t wait.

After scoring a Europa League hat-trick in last season’s final game, Lookman once again proves himself one of La Dea’s most inspired players, having racked up 10 goals and five assists in 17 outings in all competitions confused.
